Leading Hand Gardener – Full time

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Lead Hand Gardener to support the Facilities Manager in delivering high-quality gardening and landscaping services across Banksia’s common grounds and residents’ gardens.

The Lead Hand Gardener will provide supervisory support, prioritise and allocate tasks to garden staff and undertake a range of gardening duties, including responding to requests, scheduled maintenance and landscaping projects.

The successful candidate will be a reliable team leader with strong communication skills who takes pride in maintaining safe, attractive and well-presented gardens and grounds.

Banksia is a highly respected, single-site not-for-profit and charitable organisation delivering quality aged care services in the beautiful seaside village of Broulee, located on the South Coast of NSW. We provide care and support across three integrated services:

  • 121 independent living villas in our retirement village
  • An 80-bed residential aged care facility
  • Community care services

What you’ll do:

  • Provide day to day supervision and support to garden staff.
  • Prioritise and allocate daily tasks to garden staff.
  • Undertake gardening, grounds maintenance and landscaping tasks.
  • Respond to gardening requests and scheduled maintenance needs.
  • Assist with landscaping projects and seasonal garden activities.
  • Ensure gardens and common areas are safe, clean and well presented.
  • Work closely with the Facilities Manager, staff, contractors and residents

What you’ll need:

  • Certificate III in Horticulture or equivalent, with at least 2 years’ relevant experience.
  • Strong gardening, landscaping and WHS knowledge, including safe herbicide and pesticide use.
  • Ability to lead, prioritise and delegate tasks while working independently and as part of a team.
  • Good communication skills and a friendly, reliable and professional approach.
